FIDE Fair Play Seminar in Samarkand, UZB
The FIDE Fair Play Commission is holding a three-day seminar in Samarkand from 18 to 20 September, followed by an examination on 22 September. The lecturers will be Andy Howie (FPL Chair) and Vincent Geeraets (FPL Secretary).
The sessions will take place in the mornings, and the programme has been designed to fit around the schedule of the Olympiad. For this reason, the seminar is primarily intended for arbiters and others who will already be in Samarkand during this period. We advise against arranging travel specifically for the course, as the venue is still to be finalised.
Topics to be discussed during the seminar include the fair play legal framework, statistical evidence, evidence collection, and OTB and online operations. These topics will all be covered in the exam.
Upon successfully completing the exam at the end of the seminar, participants will receive an FPE seminar norm, which is one of the requirements for the FPE title.
The lecturers will be Andy Howie (SCO) and Vincent Geeraets (NL).
